The data will be easily available for extraction into crew management systems
(rostering) via IFS's web portal. There will also be an opportunity
to specifically define additional parameters so that the airline can identify
the actual time spent by crew in the air, on the ground, at the gate, etc. In
terms of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) the airline will be in a much better
position to see how its efforts to optimize crew time are succeeding.
The Voyage Report generated from the sum of all of the data inputs and calculations
made by the EFB platform and integrated modules will contain not only all
of the data currently being processed by the back office, but additional data
which can be used for further applications.
Elimination of administration costs of producing paper based performance charts for aircraft.
An EFB based Performance calculation module completely eliminates the need for paper.
A considerable amount of the data is already preloaded into the TODC module's interface
from the preflight report and flight planning module as well as the loadsheet.
The pilot is only required to input the missing variables and a quick (avg. 2 seconds)
calculation is made giving all the necessary information about the thrust and flap settings.
Furthermore, in case of sudden changes in runway, cargo or meteo conditions the pilot is able
to quickly recalculate the correct performance settings without wasting time fumbling with paper.
Reduction in administration costs of producing paper based aircraft manuals
The PFB platform comes equipped with a robust document library capable of handling PDF and XML format.
This function is secure (encrypted) and allows for complete control by the back office of the documents
on every device. It creates an automatic record of each device content, when the documents were pushed
on to the device, what documents are still not updated, etc. An electronic record will be created that
can be submitted to the CAA to demonstrate QA on the part of the airline in handling the cockpit
Reduction in handling agent costs for producing load sheets
IFS supplied loadsheet is automatically sent to designated e-mail recipients.
This function is controlled by the company via the web portal and additional
recipients can be added by the pilot as well.
Elimination of all costs associated with keeping charts and plates current
This function is best described by your charts provider. Clearly, a digital format
on the EFB will result in considerable benefits.
Reduction in fuel costs
Normally, an airline has no way of evaluating if the flight planning route chosen is
the most effective one. Sometimes a number of different routes are available and it
is not always clear if the shortest route is the most economical. If an airline is
able to gather data on its actual flight path and the resulting fuel consumption
over the course of several voyages it can then compare the data and draw appropriate
conclusions. Our platform gives the airline the tools to do just that - data mine for KPI's
that help the management make the right decision.

Pilot time can be saved from being wasted on picking up charts, flight plans, etc.
at the airport or the office as this information is sent directly to the cockpit
EFB device. Flight planning updates can be done right before the flight making for
more accurate flight paths, take into account most recent weather conditions, etc.
Reduction in maintenance issues due to more timely tech log management
A number of our customers are using the data from the Journey Report
(air time, ground time, number of flights) to integrate into their tech log.
We can also make a specific technical log to include the parameters and
values that you find necessary to further help optimize the management of
your maintenance program.
For many companies an audit is a very onerous procedure, requiring considerable
investment in time and effort by its specialists. This time costs money. When
an airline is audited it is much easier to be able to present digital files
illustrating how the company is keeping track of its documentation, crews hours,
maintenance program, etc.
Any business process that requires people to enter data generated on board the aircraft
could be eliminated if this data is input into the EFB platform. This will reduce the
time from when the data is generated to when it can be acted upon (eg. Broken passenger
seat - information sent to maintenance crew as soon as the aircraft lands).
